Baksei Chamkrong


Baksei Chamkrong is another mountain temple (see picture 1, below), built by Harsavarman I in the early tenth century. The decoration is thought to date from the reign of Rajendravarman. The central shrine is built on three high plain terraces and one moulded terrace funtioning as base of the shrine. Staircases on all four sides lead to the highest terrace. The entrance of the shrine is in the east. The other sides have false doors (see picture 2, below).
