Henri Parmentier, who inventorized the monuments of My Son in 1903 and 1904, discerned at least eight temple complexes, which he called A to H (see map). Group B (see picture 1, below) seems to have been the religous and political centre. B5 (see picture 2, below) has a boat-shaped roof that has been compared to similarly shaped roofs of traditional Southeast Asian houses. The pilasters of various temples of group B and C are decorated with scroll motifs (see picture 3, below). The base of the principal temple of group G is decorated with the motif of monstre heads (see picture 4, below).
